DRZ250 Performance Exhaust

The DRZ250 has a very restricted airbox and exhaust system from factory.  Upgrading the exhaust, then doing the DRZ250 airbox mod, and then re-jetting the carb creates a noticeable power increase in the DRZ250.

There are not many aftermarket performance exhausts for the DRZ250, however there are still options available such as the Pro Circuit T4 Slip-On, which is a popular option.

Another option for an aftermarket exhaust for the DRZ250 is to use a generic slip-on muffler that is modified to fit. There are numerous performance slip-on exhausts out there, and the task of modifying them to fit the DRZ250 is fairly straightforward.

For the performance exhaust on my DRZ250, I used a local company called Cycleworks that made a full performance exhaust system (header and muffler). With the airbox mod and re-jetting, this assisted in giving the bike noticeably more power – not a ground-breaking power increase by any means, but an increase nonetheless.

Whether you are using a slip-on exhaust for your DRZ250, or you are simply trying to get more power from your DRZ250 with the stock exhaust, the DRZ250 header mod is worth doing. This mod only requires a small investment of time using a Dremel to grind away the excess weld bead on the factory header. This mod results in excellent exhaust flow improvements.
